What is Chiropractic care

Chiropractic care is about getting your body to move well, reduce pain and keep you active. Chiropractors use a variety of tools to identify, then reduce stress or pressure on the musculoskeletal system, particularly your nervous system. Stress on your nervous system will affect how well your joints and muscles move and therefore your ability to move and stay active.

What do Chiropractors treat

Neck pain, headaches and migraine

Pain is a common complaint suffered by patients who have poor posture. Chiropractors are trained to recognise the key problems causing discomfort resulting in mild to acute neck pain, headaches and/or migraines. The muscle imbalance and joint dysfunction between the shoulders and back cause increased stress on the neck muscles. Neck Pain is accompanied by stiffness in the neck and shoulders with a dull ache and a “tight band feeling” across the head and/or headaches and migraines. Clinical research has shown that chiropractic adjustments can help reduce neck pain and are very effective in treating headaches and migraines.

Upper and middle back pain

Whether you sit behind a desk all day or are involved in vigorous manual labour, you may be increasing your postural stress. This can be felt as a dull ache across the shoulders or stiffness down the back and is caused by overactive postural muscles and an imbalance in the back joints. Chiropractic treatment is a great way of alleviating and managing upper back pain caused by swelling or tension of joints and muscles. Adjustments are conducted to reduce inflammation and improve the overall function of the affected upper back areas.

Lower back pain and sciatica

Lower back pain is caused by muscle imbalance and joint dysfunction leading to disc injuries as a result of poor lifestyle, postural stress and trauma. You may feel this as stiffness and sharp pain in the lower back and in extreme cases pain down the leg, known as sciatica. Many studies have concluded that chiropractic treatment can significantly improve and help people suffering from lower back and sciatica pain. Manual therapy is often performed to alleviate pain in the affected areas through a range of adjustments aimed at mobilising muscles and joints.
